Give the World an Earful on #GivingTuesday

We don’t have to tell you that 2017 has been a year of challenging twists and turns for the international LGBTQI community — we don’t have to tell you because you’ve heard it all as it happened every week on This Way Out!

• Australia’s marriage equality plebiscite
• Chechnya’s genocidal campaign against gay and bi men
• The Trump Administration’s attempted roll-backs of civil rights

And murdered transwomen of color … and Pride Parade/#Resist Marches … and queer candidates shattering electoral ceilings … and “don’t let them eat cake” court battles … … and more! And through it all, an ever-increasing acceptance of sexual minorities around the world!

Events in the coming year are certain to be just as fast-moving and momentous, so on #GivingTuesday, November 28, please give back by helping to guarantee that the LGBTQI coverage you rely on will be available to serve the global liberation movement in 2018.

There are two things we know: 

Visibility Matters — or in the case of the world’s only internationally-syndicated LGBTQI radio show, audibility — is key to changing people’s hearts and minds about sexual minorities. This Way Out makes the true voices of queer politics and culture audible everywhere, even reaching those who might never have intended to listen, transforming attitudes one ear at a time.

“An informed community is a strong community.” That’s what we say each week at the close of NewsWrap, our summary of LGBTQI-related headlines. Activists and allies find a comprehensive source of news about the work of their peers around the world, and gay, lesbian, bi, trans and gender-variant people who live in oppressive isolation find a personal source of pride and hope.

As we begin plans to celebrate This Way Out’s 30th Anniversary in April, 2018, it’s clear that the remarkable journey we’ve witnessed thus far has only set the stage for what will come in the future. Our future starts right now with our 2017 Year-End Campaign … and that campaign kicks off on #GivingTuesday, November 28!
